Q: What do you believe/teach kids?
A: We believe that God has revealed himself through history and is working within history to fulfill his purposes for all creation. The Bible tells the story of God's work in the world: how he created the world, how he made humankind in his own image, what went wrong with humanity, and how, through Jesus Christ, God set out to restore people and all creation to himself. Trinity Kidz tells God's story and invites kids to enter into it: following the way of Jesus and joining the work that God is doing in the world.
Q: What's your program like on Sundays?
A: Through relationships with volunteers and age-appropriate programming, in Trinity Kidz children learn the way of Jesus. Kids of all ages engage in both small - and large-group activities where they learn that their identity is in Christ, that they have belonging in the Church, and that they have a role to play in God's mission.
Q: Must I register/enroll my kids ahead of time?
A: No. While you are welcome to contact Trinity Kidz in advance of your first morning with us, we will be able to register your child[ren] on Sunday when you arrive. Allowing yourself a few extra minutes to fill out a short form for each child is all the preparation you'll need.
Q: How will I know where to take my preschooler and/or children?
A: Enter the drive with the sign "Visitors." The green arrows will lead you to "Guest Parking." You will see an awning with Welcome Center over one of the doors where you will enter with 1st-6th graders. There will be greeters as you enter the door to assist you in finding the Children's Reception desk. If you have children birth-5K you may continue around the corner of the building, and park in the area closest to the playground. You can enter the Preschool area through the glass door and register at the desk. If you have both children and preschoolers, it may be easier to check the younger ones in first.
Q: What will happen when I get my child to the Reception Desk?
A: Preschooler's Registration Desk:
You will be given a visitor's card with a number on it. A "bracelet" with a matching number will be put on your child's wrist or for the youngest around the ankle. We will also put your child's name on the bracelet and note if there are any allergies; you will also be asked to fill out an information card for your child. As you enter the Worship Center, you will see a black box over the door closest to the organ. If the Preschool area needs you, they will enter the number that is on the card issued at check-in. This will notify you, if you are needed for your child.
A: Children's Registration Desk:
The first time your child attends you will be asked to fill out an information sheet. Both you and your child will be issued tags with matching numbers. The second time you attend, your child's name (with all information previously collected) will be saved in our computer. We will scan your child's fingerprints and take a picture of you and your child individually. A name tag for your child will print out, and you'll be on your way!
Q: How do I get my child after Worship or Sunday School?
A: Check-out for Preschoolers:
Parents will return to the Preschool registration desk and give their card to one of the volunteers at the desk who will get your child for you. Preschoolers will not be released to anyone without a card with matching numbers on child's bracelet.
A: Check-out for Children:
Parents will return to the Children's Area registration counter. Your child will be called to meet you. As they scan their fingerprint to leave, their information page with your (the parent) picture will be shown on the commuter. Children will only be allowed to leave with a person who has been previously authorized by you, the parent, to pick them up.
Q: If my child needs to be picked up in advance of check-out time, how will I be notified?
A: During the Kidz program, if our staff and volunteers determine that we need your assistance, we will text you a message on your cell phone. Please be sure to have your phone on vibrate only.
Q: How safe is my child or family member with special needs?
A: At Trinity, we take the safety of minors and those with special needs seriously. We have a protection policy which may be viewed at the Preschool Reception Desk, the Children's Reception Desk and the Church Office. Our protection policy covers minors (under the age of 19) and anyone with special needs no matter their age.
We have an elevator in service near the children's hall for any who may need assistance getting to the second floor.
Q: Why do you practice child dedications and not infant baptisms?
A: Child dedication and infant baptism are practices in which parents make a solemn commitment to raising their child in the faith. While the meaning of infant baptism varies somewhat among denominations, it often involves parents baptizing the child as an infant, then when the child grows up and decides to follow Jesus, the child makes a profession of faith. We believe that water baptism is a sign/symbol of a person's professing faith, and as a result feel it is confusing to perform water baptism on infants. Instead, we practice child dedications on infants and young children, and when a child makes the choice to follow Jesus, they have the opportunity to declare their commitment to Jesus through baptism.
Q: Can I dedicate my child at Trinity?
A: Yes! Child dedication is available to any parent or guardian who wishes to declare their intent to raise a child to know Jesus as the only hope for bringing reconciliation between God and humanity. (Although most often it is infants who are dedicated, dedication can be done for older children as well.)
Q: How old must a child be to be baptized at Trinity?
A: There is no age requirement for baptism at Trinity; however, a child being baptized must understand what baptism means and must be able to declare their intention to follow the way of Jesus. Children who wish to be baptized are invited to attend a Kids Discovery Class. There, Trinity Kidz Staff teach the significance and meaning of baptism, and children are prepared for the experience of baptism at Trinity.
Q: Can I let my child[ren] participate in communion?
A: Celebrating the Lord's Supper is central to Christian practice. We come to the table to meet Christ, remembering his sacrificial death on behalf of all creation and looking forward to the great wedding supper to come. If parents are raising their children in the way of Jesus and helping them understand the beauty and mystery of the Lord's Supper, then we welcome children participating in communion under that parental guidance. We do not feel children must have a particular level of understanding as long as parents are committed to an ongoing dialogue with their children about what it means to celebrate the Eucharist and to be a living Eucharist, following the way of Jesus as we are broken and poured out for the sake of the world.
Q: What are your wellness guidelines?
A: Out of consideration to other kids, parents, and volunteers, our guidelines require that children who are ill will not be allowed into nursery or classrooms. Specifically, we ask that you refrain from bringing your child to Trinity Kidz if he/she is experiencing one or more of the following symptoms:
